Basic Tests — help us support your TC-Helicon device
Acoustic Play Editor is a free browser-based editor that talks to TC-Helicon vocal/guitar processors. Today it fully supports the Play Acoustic; we want to add support for Play Electric, VoiceLive Play, and others. This Basic Tests page identifies your device, captures its factory settings, and walks you through a few simple parameter changes so we can map out the byte layout. Later we may add more advanced tests — for now this set is intentionally short.
Read-only — this page never writes to your device. It only sends standard MIDI query messages. Any preset changes happen because you turn knobs and press STORE on the device yourself. No personal data is collected — only the device's preset bytes plus the nickname you choose below.
Please enter the invitation code you received and pick a nickname. We'll register you in our analytics so your test results can be identified.
Connect your device
Plug your TC-Helicon device into this computer via USB and click below. Your browser will ask permission to use MIDI — choose Allow.
Identify the device
We ask the device what model and firmware version it is.
Capture factory presets (1 minute)
We read your device's factory preset slots 1–10 plus the global setup. These are captured, not changed — your device is untouched.
Page-by-page test
This walks you through one device page at a time. On each page you set every parameter to the values listed, then press STORE on the device (or just leave the page for Mix/Setup pages — those auto-persist). We capture the whole packet and diff it against the baseline. Each completed page is sent immediately, so you can stop and resume any section without losing data.
⚠ Preset 1 will be used during this test. If you have a custom preset in slot 1 that you want to keep, please copy it to another slot first (on the device: navigate to preset 1, press STORE, choose a different destination slot, confirm).
Send the results
Submit the captured data so we can analyse it.
Firmware update test (optional)
Verify the bootloader-handshake flash works on your device. Pick a firmware version below — only firmwares for your detected product are listed.
⚠ This rewrites firmware. Strongly recommended: pick the version your device is already running. That way a failure recovers to the same state you started in. Do NOT disconnect the device or close this tab while the flash is running. After all blocks send, the device may take up to a minute to reboot — keep it powered.
